Who are we?
The current company Neessen strawberry and asparagus plants originated in 1906 from a mixed company, founded by Jacobus Steeghs. In 1942, Sjang Neessen and Nel Steeghs took over the company. The company stayed a family business in the following years. Since its foundation, Neessen has been active in various activities in livestock and pig farming, arable farming and horticulture. From the late 1950s, Neessen also became active in horticulture, producing asparagus and later strawberry production. From the late 1960s, Neessen started with its current specialism:
- Growing starting material of strawberry plants for propagation
- Propagating strawberry plants for strawberry growers
- The cultivation of asparagus plants for asparagus growers
- Production cultivation of asparagus
In addition, we have secondary activities such as the cultivation of cut hydrangeas and garden plants in the greenhouse and some arable crops for rotation of the cultivation land. Every year we grow all our crops on approximately 200 hectares of land and 12 hectares of glass.
Based on our great expertise and with the help of our relations, we develop the perfect strawberry and asparagus plants, for optimal results. Because that’s what it’s all about at Neessen.
