Gradings
Neessen propagates their varieties with different gradings, this ensures that there is a grading for every grower. On this page you will find more information about the different gradings.
Tray plants
Mini tray plants
All our tray plants are made from our own planting material. Tray plants are used in greenhouses, tunnels and table tops, these can be used during the early, summer or double crop cultivation.
Our tray plants are mostly made to order, this needs to be passed on in the early spring, one year before the plants are delivered. The plants are available in the spring and summer.

Tips
Fresh plants
All our tips are propagated from BM2/BM3 material from our screenhouse. The mother plants are placed on hanging gutters, the plants produce runners which hang in the air. Tips have active root tips and will keep growing right after they are placed in the soil. We have three gradings: middle and small. These gradings are similar to the three generations of cuttings the plant produces.
Tips can be used to make tray plants and misted tips and are available mid June until the beginning of August.
Our fresh plants are propagated from our BM2/BM3 mother plants that are planted in the early spring. The plants are covered with foil which ensures good quality and earliness. Fresh plants are used for normal cultivation or to plant in waiting beds.
Waiting beds
Frigo plants
Waiting beds are used in cooled or late cultivations. These can grow in the soil (on raised beds) and on tabletops.
Waiting beds are graded on root thickness:
- Heavy waiting beds: 22+ mm
- Mid-heavy plants: 18-22 mm
- Light plants: 15-18 mm
The plants can usually be harvested 8 weeks after planting. Plants are available in spring and summer.
All our frigo plants are propagated from BM2/BM3 material from our screen house. Frigo plants are cooled until the delivery.
Frigo plants can be used for several things depending on the grading. These are the grading we use:
- A++, 17+ mm: production plants with a lot of potential in the planting year
- A+, 13-17 mm: production plants with a few flower trusses
- A, 9-13 mm: plants with good production during the second year
- B, 6-9 mm: the smallest grading is good for planting in pots or trays
- On request, we also deliver different gradings. The plants are available in the spring and summer.
