Daroyal

Plant properties

Plants are vigorous and vegetative with a strong root capacity. Daroyal has some sensitivity to Botrytis and moderate tolerance to soil diseases, salinization and winter hardiness. Growing experience indicates a cooling requirement of 800 hours below +7ºC.

Fruits

The fruits have an attractive, regular, conical shape. The skin darkens slightly as the fruits ripen on the plant and if they have been stored in the refrigerator for a long time. Both the skin and flesh are dark red, but the fruit is firmer than Honeoye and has a glossy appearance. The percentage of unsaleable fruit is low. The average berry weight is higher than Honeoye; shelf life is similar. When picked, they fully ripen, the taste is sweet and the texture is juicy. The fruit is somewhat susceptible to Botrytis.
